2025 Term 1 Updates
INCREASING AVAILABILITY IN 2025!
Headline Updates
up to ten sessions per week
continuing program development
month to month payment
Up to ten sessions per week
What has not changed between years: The most common feedback I received was, “we want to participate, but we can’t do Wednesday afternoon” as well as “we can’t make it to your location” and “I can’t get the kids there until after work” which meant most people who were interested could not attend.
In 2025, we will start the year with families given the option between two sessions per day on every weekday for a total of ten opportunities per week. All sessions will continue at Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre (QSAC, formally QEII Stadium) because this location is most central and provides lighting after dark. We're looking at providing sessions at new locations in the future.
Continued Program Development
As more people hear about the program, we're starting to see a wider range in ages. The current program focusses on skill-based games and activities targeted at children around 10 years of age, ranging from 7 to 13 years to ensure inclusivity. I'm actively working on an Intermediate level program to not only complement our Beginner level, but to also facilitate a development pathway.
Month-to-Month payment
Building on our success in 2024, we're moving toward a monthly payment schedule, rather than parents having to choose a term length at the checkout. Second, previously if a child did not attend, they were not counted toward the sessions. However, some families whether inteded or not had been 'banking' sessions to use later. This ultimately increases the cost of the program because fewer people attend each session. As a courtesy, parents will be able to use their banked sessions during select periods across 2025. The benefit of a fixed-month to month schedule is that families are able to pay for sessions they plan to attend. It's also easier than ever to rejoin the program after time away. This is now implemented on EventBrite, a direct payment option through Paypal in the pipeline as well.
