Complete an Initial Assessment without needing to travel to a venue.
An online assessment can combine health screening, discussion, performance information, remotely completed testing and video review. It is not limited to general advice and does not necessarily involve less assessment than an in-person appointment.
Before your appointment, you may be asked to complete or provide:
an intake and consent form;
health and participation screening;
selected performance tests;
recent competition or training results;
training history or session information;
technique or movement video; and
details of relevant injuries, health conditions or current concerns.
The exact requirements will depend on your goals and the information already available.
Some physical and performance qualities can be assessed remotely when the test can be completed safely and consistently.
You may receive instructions explaining:
what test to complete;
what equipment or space is required;
how to record the result;
how to film the test where video is useful; and
when the information must be submitted.
Where appropriate, results from testing completed through another provider or assessment system may also be reviewed.
The appointment may include:
discussion of your goals and priorities;
review of health or injury considerations;
interpretation of screening or testing results;
review of training information or video;
identification of barriers or limiting factors;
recommendations for training or exercise; and
agreement on the most appropriate next step.
The appointment is used primarily for interpretation and decision-making when the necessary information has already been collected.
An online assessment may be particularly suitable when:
travelling to an in-person venue is difficult;
you already have useful performance data or results;
appropriate testing can be completed remotely;
you want review of training, competition or video information;
you have a focused question or goal; or
online delivery is more accessible for your circumstances.
An in-person appointment may be more appropriate when:
testing cannot be completed safely or reliably at home;
specialised facilities or equipment are required;
hands-on support or close observation is necessary;
several physical qualities need to be assessed during the appointment; or
the available information is insufficient to provide useful recommendations online.
An online appointment may still be used first to review your situation and determine what further assessment is needed.
You will generally require:
a reliable internet connection;
a device with a camera and microphone;
a suitable location for the appointment;
access to any requested results, records or video; and
any simple equipment specified in your testing instructions.
Do not purchase equipment unless it has been specifically requested.
