Hello, my name is Ryan and I am your new Cross Country Coach!
When I went to school like you, I would run cross country each year.
As I got older, I kept on running and got to visit many different places.
I love running because I think it is fun.
Some people might say it’s too tiring or boring.
That's okay, I will make sure our running is fun!
My job as a coach is to help you improve!
To make running less tiring
So you are stronger, faster, and fitter
And also to have lots of fun
When you come to cross country training, there are 5 important things you need to remember to bring with you:
a healthy snack, so you have energy after school
water bottle, to make sure you aren’t thirsty
running shoes, to keep your feet safe
a change of clothes or towel incase you get wet or sweaty
and don’t forget to bring your parents or carer!
On the way to training, remember to eat your snacks after school.
And make sure you go to the toilet since there are none at the park!
Once you arrive, come and say hello to me your coach.
I will mark your name on the role.
Then you will get the chance to meet other kids.
You can play with them while we get ready to start.
I will blow my whistle when it is time to begin cross country training.
If you feel a little bit nervous, that’s okay.
It just means your body is excited to try something new!
I am so happy to meet you and hope you look forward to cross country training!
